- Systems - does the builder have systems to create efficient work methods
- Clear Communication - does the builder have effective communication with clients, architects, staff and subcontractors to ensure the best results
- Quality workmanship - does the builder do quality workmanship to last a lifetime
- Timeframes and budgets - can they be lived by and banked on!
Choosing a builder is not just about the price. You need to be sure they can tick all the boxes in our 5 point checklist for the price. We do!
- Make sure the builder understands your ultimate goals for your building project. Whether it is about the lifestyle you wish to have in your home, the timeframe you need to achieve, the costs you need to stay within, the quality you expect, or even the products and finishes you wish to use.
- Can the builder produce testimonials and are they happy for you to call these past customers? Talk to past clients of the builder.
- Choose a builder with good building experience as well as skills appropriate to your needs. What style of work do they do?
- Make sure you can trust the builders ethics and honesty. You are inviting them into your home for an extended length of time and are trusting them to be honest about the money you are spending.
- Think about what you want from the builder - advice, knowledge, good communication, someone who is open to changes or options - to ensure you match!
- Choose a builder with whom you have a personal rapport. They will be a big part of your life for a while!
- Are they licensed? Is their licence current? Are there are any complaints with the Department of Fair Trading?
- Are they fully insured? What type of insurance do they have? Public Liability, Product Liability, Builders Warranty, Contract Works, Workers Compensation
